Netiquette Core Basics For Dating Email

Dating email requires sound thinking and balance. Just as in a business email, a single word or phrase can derail forever any opportunity to move forward with your friend. Also keep in mind that what begins as a simple email might end up being a lifetime fulfillment.

Follow all basic Netiquette rules! They are all over this blog site or in my book, "Netiquette IQ - A Comprehensive Guide to Improve, Enhance, and Add Power to Your Email". It is essential that simple items such as emoticons, abbreviations, spelling, and format are handled properly. More advanced areas to avoid are:

Do not overstate the obvious
Do not brag about accomplishments
Do not discuss money
Avoid jokes on the initial emails
Never bring up politics
Do not respond too quickly, respond back from between 24-36 hours
Respond during normal times time of polite correspondence, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Never make assumptions
Do not make unnecessary apologies
Do not comment on other on-line dating experiences
Do not make any references or innuendos to adult language or conduct

The number one, most important rule of date email Netiquette is to never exaggerate or prevaricate! Sooner or later, if a relationship begins to develop and grow, the truth will prevail.

Remember . . .

Diamonds are forever, email comes close.
-- Jane Kronholz

There are other categories of email which share some similarities of dating email. These concern social situations such as applications for membership in a group or organization, introductory letters outside of business and certain solicitations.

As much as any other aspect of email, tone is very critical. Also, in my opinion, being yourself is as well. Try to develop an "ethos" or consistent way to express yourself in a balanced and objectified way. You want the person you are communicating with to receive a message that is you. All of the dos and don’ts are really just a vehicle to make that happen.
Great Netiquette To All!

Netiquette IQ - Now is the Time for Safe and Equal Access to Education for All Children All Over the World

Special Bulletin - My just released book, "You're Hired. Super Charge Your Email Skills in 60 Minutes! (And Get That Job...) is now on sales at Amazon.com

Education for children has always been a critical part of any culture anywhere. With the exploding rise of cyber technology, this it is becoming more important to educate them in Netiquette as well. Three of my forthcoming books will be focused upon Netiquette for kids and young adults. The article below reflects on the hardships of even the most basic forms of education for many countries and demographics today. For those of us who are able to do so, we should contribute in our best ways to help make access, education and freedom essential core rights in our world and that of the cyberspace world as well!

From The US Deparment of Education HomeRoom blog

Now is the Time for Safe and Equal Access to Education for All Children All Over the World

On October 9th 2012, Malala Yousafzai was on a school bus returning to her home in Pakistan’s Swat Valley. A masked gunman boarded the bus and asked for her by name. When her classmates could not help but to glance at her, the gunman approached Malala and shot three times, hitting her in the head and neck. She was 15 years old and her only crime was advocating for equal access to education for all children.

On December 8th of this year, UNICEF declared that 2014 was a devastating year for children. Two years after the brutal attack on Malala, as many as 10,000 children have been recruited to fight by armed groups in the Central African Republic. In Syria, there have been more than 35 attacks on schools and 1.7 million children are now refugees. And a mere eight days after the UNICEF report was released, Taliban gunman launched an unimaginable attack on a Pakistani school, killing 132 students.

These are just some of the challenges that world leaders and non-governmental organizations face in their efforts to establish a new set of sustainable development goals. Technical experts and advocates from Save the Children and other groups are engaging in a series of global consultations on post-2015 education indicators. What has emerged is this: the only way to offer children a future free of violence and extreme poverty is to provide every child safe and equitable access to quality education. Simply counting the number of children in schools is not enough.

Of course, violence against children is not limited to countries outside our borders. Speaking to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute in October, Secretary Arne Duncan referenced the impact violence has had on his own experience. He said, “I saw children who happened to come from a very violent community; who happened to all be African-American; who happened to be very poor. Despite many real challenges, many went on to do extraordinary things.”

Duncan also pointed out that students of color in the U.S. are more likely to be assigned inexperienced teachers; that they have less access to advanced classes; and that they are more likely to go to schools with lower-quality facilities, such as temporary structures. These are circumstances we can and must change.

In October, ED’s Office of Civil Rights issued guidance to states, school districts, and schools to help ensure students in the U.S. have equal access to educational resources. Initiatives such as My Brother’s Keeper and Excellent Educators for All are designed to help level the playing field for U.S. students who face an uphill battle in attaining an education. The goal is to ensure that our children – no matter their circumstances – have every opportunity to reach their full potential.

Netiquette IQ Blog Of 8/20/2015 - Network Functions Virtualization (NFV)

Special Bulletin - My just released book, "You're Hired. Super Charge Your Email Skills in 60 Minutes! (And Get That Job...) is now on sales at Amazon.com

network functions virtualization (NFV)
Network functions virtualization (NFV) is an initiative to virtualize the network services that are now being carried out by proprietary, dedicated hardware. If successful, NFV will decrease the amount of proprietary hardware that's needed to launch and operate network services.

The goal of NFV is to decouple network functions from dedicated hardware devices and allow network services that are now being carried out by routers, firewalls, load balancers and other dedicated hardware devices to be hosted on virtual machines (VMs). Once the network functions are under the control of a hypervisor, the services that used to require dedicated hardware can be performed on standard x86 servers.

This is important because it means that network administrators will no longer need to purchase dedicated hardware devices in order to build a service chain. Because server capacity will be able to be added through software, there will be no need for network administrators to overprovision their data centers which will reduce both capital expenses (CAPex) and operating expenses (OPex). If an application running on a VM required more bandwidth, for example, the administrator could move the VM to another physical server or provision another virtual machine on the original server to take part of the load. Having this flexibility will allow an IT department to respond in a more agile manner to changing business goals and network service demands.

The NFV concept, which was presented by a group of network service providers at the SDN and OpenFlow World Congress in October 2012, is being developed by the ETSI Industry Specification Group (ISG) for Network Functions Virtualization.

Netiquette Core Principles For Those Job Seekers Over 50

The following is an excerpt from my just released book, "You're Hired. Super Charge Your Email Skills in 60 Minutes! (And Get That Job...)

Using Your Age as a Competency in an Email Rather Than Trying to Appear Ageless

If you build that foundation, both the moral and the ethical foundation as well as the business foundation, and the experience foundation, then the building won’t crumble.
—Henry Kravis

Your job-seeking action plan should take into account the suggestions in the following list. The subsequent explanations in following sections go into each point in greater detail.
1.           Speak to your code of ethics.
2.           Avoid culture clashes—shun outdated words or terminology in your emails.
3.           Keep your résumé consistent with your email.
4.           Take advantage of email embellishments, but be careful of these.
5.           Be persistent when asking for an interview.
6.           Be proactive and optimistic in your correspondence and communication.
7.           Fully disclose your background before the employer researches you.
8.           Emphasize an attitude of cooperation.
9.           Show tech expertise.
10.        Focus on what you can do to help the company overcome areas it is struggling in. Be careful of this situation until you have a very clear understanding . Some in the company may be responsible for bad decisions.
11.        Stay salient.
12.        Do not make assumptions.
13.        Use your age, experience, and savvy as assets in your email.
14.        Provide links in your email to access websites that highlight your skills or accomplishments.
15.        Describe the strengths of your personal work process.
